DoP Lighting Cameraman

About

Experience. Diligence. Knowledge

History

I spent ten years working as an assistant cameraman on a diverse selection of projects; from BBC magazine programmes through to 35mm feature films and a host of other dramas, commercials and corporate films in between.

During that time I learnt not only the technical aspects of what is expected of a cameraman, but also the techniques of shooting and directing for single camera, documentary and drama lighting, interview and journalistic methods.

Probably the most important things that I learnt were the interpersonal skills required to be able to work with an ever changing crew, different contributors and members of the public. These skills have helped to get the most out of my crew, interviewees and contributors. No one person on a shoot is more or less important in my opinion. First and foremost we are a team.

After ten years training, I felt ready to branch out on my own and started working as an camera operator and subsequently lighting cameraman.

My work now crosses all of the programme boundaries, single & multi-camera, magazine to sport to documentary, pop promo’s to training videos including technical producer and event producer for the European Broadcasting Union.

I pride myself in my adaptability and also being able to keep on working professionally in any circumstances, whatever the weather, wherever I am and however long the day has become.
